The Department of Housing, Local Government, and Heritage in Ireland has just announced a new short-term national pilot scheme offering grants for professional conservation advice to the private owners of protected structures.

The scheme will provide grants of €3,000 (ex. VAT) to cover the cost of using a conservation-accredited architect to visit the property, conduct a survey, and offer tailored conservation advice to the property owner.

The aim of this pilot scheme is to help owners understand the value and potential of the architectural heritage of their buildings, and to encourage private or grant-funded investment to enhance and protect the heritage value.

Perhaps because this is a trial scheme the deadline for applications is extremely short, ending on Friday, 30th September. Winning applicants will be selected via a lottery system.
